Freshen Up

Two weeks ago, I forgot to pull out a clean bath towel for the little girl before leaving the house. So, my sister decided to use this pink bath robe for her. It was gift from my officemate during her first birthday.

Food Allergies

Has your child diagnosed with food allergy? How did you handle the situation?

My husband brought our daughter to the hospital yesterday due to food allergy. I was not at home for more than 8 hours, so I was not able to witness what really happened. Here is the story:

During lunch, the little girl had a serving of macaroni soup cooked by Nanay. She does not like tomato-based foods just like the Kalderata I prepared for them, so she chose to eat the macaroni soup. Then afterwards, Thea had her usual afternoon siesta. However, she woke up at around 3 p.m. with several red spots on her skin – one of the symptoms of allergy. Hubby decided to bring her to the nearby hospital wherein she was diagnosed with food allergy. The doctor gave her an anti-allergy injection, prescribed a 5-day medication (Iterax), and provided us list of foods that are not allowed for food allergy sufferers. When I came home, the allergies are gone.

Based on the online research I made a while ago, the most common food allergies are allergy from milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, seafood, shellfish, soy and wheat.

Lesson learned: We, parents, should be wary about food allergens, food labels, and the symptoms of food allergic reactions.

Letting her pose before the camera is easier said than done. If you are the one taking the picture, you should be extra patient or else…(hehe). Like what happened when these photos were taken.

Another Birthday Present!

Aside from Dora the Explorer Wooden Puzzle, Dora Slippers and a Mickey Mouse Drawing Board that we gave during her 2nd birthday, Thea got another present yesterday. Her Tito Jojo and Tita Joy (both working in Qatar) sent a package of various goodies including their gift to my little girl. It is a VSmile Learning System by Vtech. It is an educational gadget with a bunch of developmental benefits for babies aged 9-36 months. We tried it last night and she really enjoyed playing with it.

Thank you so much, Tito Jojo and Tita Joy and Ate Arlyn too...

Snapshots of a Future Swimming Champ

We had our annual out-of-town summer vacation last April 7, 2008 in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija. We used to travel in different parts of Luzon during this season even when I was single, few years back. We have toured Bagiuo, La Union, Tarlac and Pampanga, visited in numerous private resorts in Los BaƱos Laguna, and went back to my hometown (Irosin, Sorsogon). But the Cabanatuan trip was one of my best summer adventures so far.

My daughter really enjoyed dipping in the pool... Here are some of her photos:
